December 9th, Wrightsboro UMC held a wonderful event. We called it our “Christmas Extravaganza” because it offered so many different opportunities to the folks in our church and particularly in our community.
We served a breakfast of pancakes, sausage, coffee and orange juice in our Fellowship Hall, where we also had a special appearance by Santa Claus. We collected numerous gift items and offered two free gift shops — one for the kids shopping for family, and another for the parents/adults shopping for the kids. We even offered free gift wrapping.
We had a separate room filled with free children’s clothing that really blessed many families.
We also had tables set up where the kids could do crafts such as making Christmas cards and ornaments. Finally, there was a story-telling area where the kids heard Christmas stories about Jesus.
This was our first time doing this, and we didn’t know what to expect. But we estimate we had over 200 people come through our doors, the vast majority being from outside the church. We served about 150 plates of pancakes and sausage. It was a true blessing to be able to show the love of Christ to so many during this special time of year!
