The Harbor District Antiracism Team gathered for the first time in April 2021 with the hope of fostering the ideal of living into the “Beloved Community” from the language of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. regarding antiracism.
“Beloved Community” is a community in which everyone is cared for, absent of poverty, hunger, and hate. We invite you to take a moment in your life to explore the ideal of the “Beloved Community” by visiting some of these sites:

Our Mission:
- To fulfill The United Methodist main mission of making disciples for the transformation of the world through the lens of Anti-racism and racial reconciliation.
- To provide support and advocacy for both Clergy and laity, for the purpose of creating space for difficult conversations centered around race and racial reconciliation.
Our Objectives:
- To introduce the language of the “the Beloved Community (1 Corinthians 13; Romans 10:12; Proverbs 24:23);
- To continue to build relationships across boundaries that remind us we are living into the “Beloved Community” (Isaiah 11:6); and
- To introduce learnings and knowledge into the community to sustain “Living into “the Beloved Community” (Romans 12:1-2)
- To provide assessment tools, studies, curriculum, and support for those who feel called to address both anti-racism and racial reconciliation
